Valentines Cocktails

Well the day of romance is upon us once again and while hearts envelop us my mind wanders to the thought of Valentine’s Day cocktails. Yes it’s the day of love, Amour. France, I did go there once but all I got was cheese and bread though 😉

So as we’re flooded with commercials for jewelry, chocolates and red roses, romantic drinks are really what sets the mood for what everyone so desperately seeks on Valentine’s Day… Me, what ev, I prefer to enjoy a valentines cocktail. Hopefully not alone. Sigh……

My Suggested Love Potions

Romance is the name of the game during this holiday and I’ve extracted some valentines drink recipes from deep within the vaults of my cobwebbed cranium. Sure to get your juices flowing, these hot, romantic potions will be a tonic for your libido. But don’t worry… we’ll start slowly and work our way up. There is something to be said for foreplay, after all.

Tequila Sunrise

Valentine's Day Cocktails - Tequila SunriseI know what you’re thinking. Tequila? Is that really a romantic mixed drink? Believe it or not they aren’t just served as shots in some dimly lit bar at half past midnight. There are many fine tasting Tequilas gracing our shelves that lend themselves to our discovery of a romantic moment.

Myth has it that the Tequila Sunrise may have been invented on the Rolling Stones tour plane during their 1972 Tour of the Americas. True, I don’t know for sure because I was unfortunately not there, but I can assure you that there was plenty of romance happening at any given moment. No doubt it was this love cocktail.

Still though…you might say that this shouldn’t be included within my Valentine’s Day drinks. But I think it might so hear me out. When mixed with some good sweet and juicy OJ and drizzled with Grenadine over the rocks with a sugared rim it gets a bit more enticing. Like a sunrise it is red in color, it has a touch of sweetness, it brings a bit of warmth to your heart and it looks damn sexy in a cocktail glass.

Recipe

Prep

  • Rim a Highball Glass with Sugar
  • Combine Tequila and OJ With Ice in a Shaker & Stir
  • Pour the Tequila and Orange Juice Into the Glass
  • Slowly Add the Grenadine Around the Inside Edge of the Glass
  • Garnish with the orange slice and cherry.

Sex on the Beach

Valentine's Day Cocktails - Sex on the BeachNow that that we’re all hot ‘n bothered, it’s time to get sandy with our next Valentine’s elixir: Sex on the Beach. Honestly I used to order these just to say that I had sex on a beach… Or sex for that matter. Yeah Ma, you raised a real lady killer…

This cocktail may be one of the more understandable Valentine’s Day drinks. What goes better than crisp, clean vodka combined with a mixture of luxurious fruit flavors over ice? Shaken like Mylie Cyrus across an ecstasy flavored dance floor, this is one potion that should be enjoyed. Have a couple of these romantic cocktails with your honey and be prepared to get some sand in all the right places.

Recipe

  • 1 1/2 oz. Vodka
  • 1/2 oz. Chambord
  • 2 oz. Pineapple Juice
  • 2 oz. Cranberry Juice
  • Orange Slice and Maraschino Cherry for Garnish

Prep

  • Combine Liquids With Ice In a Cocktail Shaker
  • Shake Well
  • Strain into an Ice-Filled Highball Glass
  • Garnish an Orange Slice and Maraschino Cherry.

Screaming Orgasm

Valentine's Day Cocktail - The Screaming OrgasmAs our evening draws to a close what better way to cap off the evening than with a Screaming Orgasm. Am I right? Oh Yes!!!! Offering a twist to the old classic White Russian, this valentines day cocktail is sure to please. I mean it is screaming after all.

I once ordered one of these for a friend and I asked her whether she wanted it screaming or not (ya know without the twist). Hey at least once in my life I can say that I gave a girl a screaming orgasm 😉

So what is so special about this drink? Why should Valentine’s Day conclude with this one? Because it’s creamy, it’s dreamy and it’s damn good. So grab your special someone to enjoy one of these valentine cocktails for a rich, velvety experience.

Recipe

  • 1 oz. Vodka
  • 1 oz. Amaretto
  • 2 oz. Milk or Cream
  • 1/2 oz Kahlúa
  • Cocoa or Chocolate Sauce for Garnish

Prep

  • Lightly Rim a Cocktail Glass with Cocoa Powder or Chocolate Sauce
  • Combine Liquids with Ice in a Cocktail Shaker
  • Shake Well
  • Strain Into a Cocktail Glass

Conclusion

While they may not be traditional, these are certainly among my favorite cocktails for Valentines Day. From the subtle to the conspicuous, these mixed drinks are great options for your day of romance.
